A Recent Review for NBTAM

Standard

With a hot cup of coffee on my desk and ideas floating in my head, I had great plans for working on Book #2 this morning. But!–I decided to check my email first…and what did I find? A wonderful review. Nothing makes me smile more than a great review from someone I truly respect and admire. Connie, the author of this review, hosts live author chats on Gather.com. She was kind enough to include me in her summer line-up, and even kinder to purchase a copy of NBTAM.

A big thanks to Connie and all of you who have / will write reviews of NBTAM. I truly appreciate the support! 🙂 Now (with a cold cup of coffee on the desk) I’ll tackle book two…

I ordered this book for my nieces as a gift, however when it arrived I had a strong desire to read it for myself. This book was written with young teens in mind however I found it to be a great story for adults as well.  This author has the ability to  reach the readers inner soul and bring back memories of their own teenage life. This book is a must read for all teens and their parents as well.  This author has the ability to reach the reader in such a personal way that they feel a connection with the author.

Kimberly has the ability to reach  deep into the readers thoughts to bring out those trials that were faced when they were/are in high school. I felt the connection to the author so much that I thought seriously about emailing her myself.

All I could think as I finished reading the book was just how much meaningful advice the author was sharing with  the reader just by writing a story they could relate too.  I think we all have “secrets” that we have never told anyone.  Secrets  that we are afraid to tell anyone. I think this book will reach out to teens who are dealing with those secrets in a way that will give them the strength to know the right way to handle trials in their lives.

This story is so real that it could and does happen more often in a teens life than we as parents dare to even think. This book will give the teens the courage and desire to use their inner strength to share their experiences with someone who cares instead of keeping it a secret that will forever be in the back of their minds.

I give this book a 5 star and recommend it to all 13-16 year old teens and their parents.

FROM THE BACK OF THE BOOK:

Chloe Preston has the perfect teenage life:  great friends, a full social calendar, and the ideal boyfriend.

But perfect never stays that way.

One night, Chloe’s life is shattered, and all she can hope for is that the memory will fade like a bad dream.  But secret truths are dangerous, and Chloe discovers that keeping things hidden causes more harm than good – especially when the nightmare is real and comes back for more.

Will Chloe find the strength to face the truth, or will she remain a victim of her own fears?

Insightful and compelling, author Kimberly Blackadar’s Nothing but Trouble after Midnight is an unprecedented battle between true love and ill-fated circumstance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Kimberly writes young adult fiction and speaks to schools across the nation about reading and the writing process.  She was born in Massachusetts, but raised in Florida.  She  graduated from Florida State University.  She then spent eight years in the classroom–primarily as an English, social studies, and drama teacher. Now a homeschooling mom living in Minnesota, Kimberly uses her experiences from  the classroom to create realistic fiction for her readers.

I was fortunate enough to host a live chat with author Kimberly Blackadar and she is an amazing person and author.  Kimberly goes to schools to talk to teens about how to deal with those times in their lives when they are abused by a date or friend.  She volunteers her time to help others.
